The Chicano/Hispanic Law Students’ Association (“CHLSA”) embodies a vibrant past, an energetic present, and a promising future. As one of the oldest, largest, and most established Hispanic law student organizations in the country, we are committed to advancing the goals of Hispanic students within the law school, and promoting diversity within the legal profession. We are open to all law students and take pride in the diversity of our organization with students representing a wide variety of races, ethnic backgrounds, and ideologies.

After more than 40 years at UT Law, CHLSA is now home to more than 1,700 Hispanic alumni. Each year, CHLSA has more than 120 members, most of whom are actively involved in our organization. Our executive board is populated with sixteen positions. Each year CHLSA has hosts a Cultural Celebration and Awards Banquet, which has had more than two hundred guests in attendance. In years past, CHLSA has also hosted symposia, the most recent of which featured oral arguments heard by the Supreme Court of Texas; a Diversity Education Weekend for incoming first year law students; a series of Practice Area Luncheons with local law firm partners; and résumé workshops for our membership. CHLSA is also a frequent co-sponsor of a variety of events that occur at UT Law.

Whether you are a prospective student, a current member, one of our honored alumni, or a part of the interested public, we invite you to access the information on this website to learn more about who we are and what we do.
